About the role
As a Senior Software Developer at FA Solutions, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle - from specification and implementation to testing and release.

You will work with complex, business-critical back-office features for administering investment portfolios. This includes settlement of trades and other investment-related transactions, payment processing, and reconciliation. Our customers manage various asset classes, so understanding how equities, fixed income, funds, and ETFs operate is important. Knowledge of investment products such as fx contracts (spot, forward), options, and futures is also appreciated.

In this role, you will handle complex requirements with a high degree of autonomy, translating them into well-designed, scalable solutions of strong quality. You will also contribute to building highly reliable, high-throughput services in a distributed systems environment.

Key responsibilities
Your main tasks include:

• Specifying and designing technical solutions based on business requirements

• Developing high-quality, maintainable code, including unit tests

• Documenting and demonstrating your work to stakeholders

• Reviewing peers’ code and participating in acceptance testing

• Contributing to release-related technical activities

• Working as part of an agile development team, following internal processes, values, and guidelines

Your profile

To succeed in this role, you have excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of asset management or finance, combined with solid experience in a similar role at a software company.

You are able to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail, prioritize effectively, and maintain a clear overview even in complex projects.

We expect you to have:

• 5+ years of experience in software development within the financial domain

• Experience with Java and SQL databases

• Familiarity with standard financial messaging formats such as SWIFT MT and ISO 20022

• Experience working with systems that require high reliability and performance.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Finnish or Swedish is considered an advantage)

It is an advantage if you have experience in building scalable systems that handle large volumes of data, as is previous work with SaaS application development.
